I have several community sites using the new experience that are available to the public. Previously, on the old experience, there was some text that said "Log In" that I could direct people to. But now, you have to click on the gravatar first. I can't tell you how many times I've had to field questions by people who simply aren't logged in saying things like "I can't access my content" (because they can't tell if they're logged in or not), or "I don't know how to login." And my response to them is "look at the weird squiggly image, that means nothing to you but is supposed to represent your avatar, or at least it would if you were logged in. Click on that and then hidden in the drop-down menu is the ability to login" My main feedback is: make it obvious for people to know how to login. As part of that, I'd suggest/request doing away with the gravatar if someone's not logged in, it doesn't need to be a drop-down menu. Maybe non-logged in users shouldn't be able to control the Theme. Instead, replace that with an obvious button or link that just lets people login withou having to hunt for it.
