Keep the option to have top menu on membership sites

In the process of creating the new membership site experience, Simpleros current strategy is to totally replace the top menu (that can now be chosen in the theme settings) with the left hand side menu.
This is a big issue for all the sites created as websites, maybe with a few courses, but where the intent is to give visitors a "website" experience, which in my opinion in most cases includes a top menu. Many users have moved their WP, Wix, Squarespace etc. sites to Simplero because of the ease of the (old) pagebuilder and the simplicity of having everything on one platform. They will now be forced to move those pages back out to another vendor to keep the top menu option, I can't see why Simplero would want that.

Can anyone remind me why when I select top navigation, it stays on the left side? I've been trying to get rid of this but even when I select top it stays on the left.

Follow up: I am in the process of setting up several new membership sites for new products. I was upset to see that I cannot even hide the side navigation while I am in the planning/admin view.
With the extra vertical bar (of the unwanted side navigation), I have very little space to work on the actual membership site page!
This is very frustrating. It's taking me much longer to clone and adjust a previously created page because I can't see much of the page. :(

Calvin Correli Thank you very much for working on this!
I regularly re-activate the "new experience" on one of my existing membership sites to see if the dropdown navigation from the top has been reinstated. But alas, it has not yet, so I turn off the "new experience" as fast as possible because too much of the screen display is lost with the side navigation.

I would like more options in designing the website and this "new experience" has removed a lot of options.
I use my membership sites as website and it screws up my design.
I think Simplero should look towards Wordpresses new site builder where you can design the different block individually with something like the new page builder. I.e. the top menu could be customized separately. The footer could be customized separately. And you could design the total page view with these elements drawn in.
And then keep this "new experience" for the courses.

For consistency's sake, I'd like to keep the top menu in the new format. My clients are not tech-savvy, and once they learn something, they'd like it to stay consistent (whodathunk that humans like that?! :) ), and if we can keep the top menu option (as an option), please let's do that. :)

I like the big, built-in marketing button top-right, too (in the old layout). That goes away in the new layout.

I have also turned off the new Simplero look. It has affected the appearance of all of my sites. I am a bit nervous what will happen when the new experience is no longer Beta, and we are required to move to the "new experience"

YES! Top navigation menu options must remain an option. I immediately turned off the new Simplero look when I discovered my top navigation was gone.
What also must stay is the ability to jump between all my membership sites using the drop down arrow on the right....
The new changes were not cool :(
Below is an image of what I show my members to make it easy for them to jump between all membership sites with me. It uses the top navigation and the drop down feature on the upper right side of the screen.
The second image is the disastrous AFTER effects when I turned on the new Simplero community feature. :( So I turned off the new feature.
