Block spam signups in more situations (events, products, courses...)
David B. Alexander
Currently, the only area in Simplero that I know of (and according to Simplero support) that has a spam-blocking function, is list subscription. I have been running free events, and the same thing could happen with free products or giveaways. I am getting spam registrations from Seychelles and Netherlands, currently about five of those per hour. None of them have a name filled in (since Events cannot make the name mandatory) and there is no capacity to block by country or by spam ranking.
Perhaps if Simplero has an object for spam filtering, it can be integrated into Events, Products, and perhaps Course signups?
I will be starting to charge a fee, after offering free events since 2019, so that should solve the problem--I hope--but for the remaining free events that I already scheduled, I am getting a storm of spam, for no intelligent reason that would benefit a spammer that I can think of.
Anyway, it would make sense for Simplero to roll out the spam blocking for every place a visitor can sign up. And some option to ONLY allow certain countries based on IP address, or to BLOCK certain countries based on IP address, could be helpful.
