In all of our forums, an old post will jump to the top if someone comments on it - even if the post is from a long time ago. I would like the ability to turn this off, so that more relevant, but less "active" posts have the chance to be seen.
To be clear, I'm not talking about pinning posts. I would like to be able to have the chronology of a forum stay consistent, and not factor commenting into the equation.
This is our general discussion forum. The top post, made by Ryan, was posted Nov. 12, while the bottom post, by me, was posted Dec. 1.
The orange arrow denotes a comment made on Ryan's post after Dec 1, which moved his whole post about mine, thus affecting the chronology.
The purple arrow is indicating the "new" tag in our other forums. This tag pops up when someone makes a new post (which is good) but it also pops up when someone comments on a previous post (which is confusing).
Is it possible to adjust the forum settings to that:
a) comments on posts do not affect the chronology
b) comments are assigned a different color "new" tag; or specified with a "new comment" tag; or not indicated at all
